Price of eggs
President Donald Trump is not even one month into his presidency, and the mainstream media is concerned that prices have not come down yet. Wow, only a few weeks and eggs are still expensive. Now, Trump has taken action to lower costs by reducing regulations and encouraging the development of more fuel resources. Of course, it will take some time to work its way through the system.
The biggest driver of price reduction will be competition. The more there is competition and supply, the lower prices will go. Egg prices in particular are driven by bird flu restricting supply. This will pass, supply will improve and prices will come down. Trump’s efforts on deregulation will drive competition and lower prices. Give him a couple months.
Trump knows the biggest weapon in his arsenal is the American consumer. Countries around the world count on America to buy their products. Trump rattles tariffs like some presidents rattled sabers. The president of Colombia learned a hard lesson when he thought he could resist Trump.

Not a business
President Donald Trump does not own the federal government. It is not a privately owned business, like Twitter/X is under Elon Musk.
Neither the president nor federal agencies and departments, such as Office of Management and Budget, the Justice Department and the FBI, can change rules, laws and procedures, such as those governing anti-discrimination and the firing of civil service employees, without following the Administrative Procedures Act. This act requires that changes to federal laws, rules and regulations be published in the Federal Register for a 60-day period for review and comment.
Trump swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and to faithfully uphold and administer its laws. Trump cannot fire federal workers without due process provided by civil service rules and regulations which give stability and continuity in government necessary for the peaceful transfer of power. Americans are seeing the chaos that occurs when this doesn’t happen.

No civility or unity
Like many Americans I chose not to watch the inauguration. However, after seeing highlights, I have never witnessed a more disrespectful address to the American people from past presidents. Civility is now a thing of the past. No mention of unity.
All three branches of government are in the hands of the Republicans who have lost any moral compass. In just the first few days, Trump issued pardons for 1,500 insurrectionists convicted of horrendous crimes. So much for backing the blue. How are officers who protected the Capitol and our legislators supposed to feel about that? The Republican response was, “We want to look forward not backward.” We all want to move forward, but apparently retribution is the agenda.
Bipartisan legislation for immigration? Nope. That was gone when he told them all to vote against it. The Supreme Court gave him immunity to do as he pleases. The Paris climate accord is gone again because he and his cronies don’t care about the future of our children or planet. He’s moved to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization and the bird flu is already an issue. Remember COVID? And NATO? In case you are not a student of history, being an isolationist country has never been a good thing. We cannot put America first by going backward.
Lastly, thank you Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde for speaking truth to “power.” We all need to do that.

Impeach
President Donald Trump’s incompetence and corruption shine like a beacon that attracts a flock of corrupt and incompetent individuals to do his bidding. It is time to cut our losses and institute impeachment proceedings.
