Jaxen Whitehurst tallied three hits for the No. 4 Wildcats. Cole Cinnamond homered and drove in four. Dayton House, Jason Miller and Cinnamond combined for the shutout.

#5 Hickory 10, Nansemond River 2

WP: Tommy Blackburn

Brayden Bachman went 3 for 3 for the Hawks. Matt Kemmick and Ryan Kennedy each tallied two hits.

Bay Rivers District

Smithfield 5, Poquoson 4

WP: Nathan Lamarche; LP: Eli Monroe

Nate Gasper’s single drove in Walton Bondurant for the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Gasper and Kelson Sowden combined for five hits for the Packers, and Bondurant tallied three runs. Eli Tyndall represented the Islanders with three hits, including a triple in the top of the seventh.

Peninsula District

Gloucester 19, Heritage 1

WP: Trevor Richardson (7-1)

The Dukes were led offensively by Grayson Shield, Colter Callis and Jackson Harbaugh with multiple hits.

Southeastern District

Indian River 8, King’s Fork 5

WP: Logan Riley; LP: Kaden Jones

Riley finished with four hits, two scored runs and four shutout innings of relief. Riley Ming added two hits and two RBIs for the Braves while Ace Chambers contributed three hits in the win.

Non-district

Churchland 6, Salem 4

Jeremiah Lunceford collected two hits, two runs and three stolen bases for the Truckers (13-4). Evan Jackson struck out six in five innings, and Daniel Sellers pitched two innings for the win.

#5 Western Branch 26, Oscar Smith 2

The Bruins were led by Maddie Lemasters with a three-run home run and Marissa Bernheimer with a grand slam. Lemasters and Bernheimer also combined for 11 RBIs.

#6 Gloucester 11, Mathews 0

WP: Avery West (7-0-1); LP: Angel Shultz

West pitched a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts. At the plate, West went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Cameron Palas also went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs. The Dukes improve to 14-0 in the Peninsula District and 19-0 overall.

#10 Deep Creek 4, #7 Great Bridge 1

Rayna Klar and Bailey Cockrell helped the Hornets build a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Lilly Barham and Larah Fray combined to throw a one-hitter.

#14 Poquoson 17, Smithfield 1

Alyssa Laney drove in five runs on three hits to lead Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders past Smithfield Varsity Packers 17-1 on Monday. Alyssa Laney doubled in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, singled in the second scoring one, and hit a sacrifice fly in the third scoring one.

Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alyssa Laney doubled to center field, and Camryn Drewry singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Five more Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 7-0. Layla Wheeler hit a solo home run to left field, Tinley Goodson doubled, scoring one run, Alyssa Laney singled, scoring one run, and Sierra Morse singled, scoring two runs.

Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders added one run in the third. Alyssa Laney hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 8-0.

Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning. Layla Wheeler doubled, scoring one run, Ella Schriner singled, scoring one run, Tinley Goodson singled, scoring one run, Alyssa Laney doubled, scoring two runs, Payton DuVal singled, scoring one run, and Sierra Morse doubled, scoring one run.

Natalie Klochak earned the win for Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking none. Abigail Worrell took the loss for Smithfield Varsity Packers. The left-handed pitcher went two innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits, striking out one and walking one.

Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders collected 21 hits in the game. Tinley Goodson went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders in hits. Sierra Morse, Payton DuVal, Layla Wheeler, Brooklyn Mason, and Camryn Drewry each collected multiple hits for Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders.

Grace Dodson, Makayla Hall, Peyton Gilliam, and Cheyenne Debusk each collected one hit for Smithfield Varsity Packers. Gracie May Plaster led Smithfield Varsity Packers with one run batted in.

Poquoson Varsity Lady Islanders welcome Bruton on Wednesday for their next game.

WP: Lauren Burchuk

Burchuk and Hannah Hebert combined for the shutout. Kasey Weigl and Caitlyn Strader each collected two hits for the SunDevils and combined for three RBIs and four runs.

Miguel Trigueros earned his eighth shutout of the season for the Comets. Chicko Hernandez, Farid Jimenez and Miguel Trigueros each scored once. Christian Reyes and Caleb Jordan provided one and two assists, respectively.

Booker T. Washington 1, Heritage 0

Rushane Granville was the lone scorer for the Bookers.

Ruby Hanna, Kameron Creamer and Quinn Bebber each recorded hat tricks for the Comets. Hanna and Bebber added three and two respective assists. Sai Bhasin finished with a goal and four assists. Ella Jackson, Lola Virasoro, Sharon O’Angels, Ella Pringle and Rilee Egidi each scored once.

Non-district

Menchville 4, Smithfield 2

Maddie Leach led the Monarchs with two goals and an assist. Lala Granger and Alyssa Ware both scored once. Julianna Jones logged both of the Packers’ goals.

Cox 9, Princess Anne 0

Sam Dixon (6-0, 6-1), Luca Gandolfo (6-4, 6-0), Matt Baan (6-0, 6-0), Joseph Park (7-5, 6-3), Daniel Ureeta (6-1, 6-2) and Maxx Kirchoff (6-1, 6-2) all earned singles wins for the Falcons in a sweep.

Ocean Lakes 9, Bayside 0

Ian Bedinger and Ishaan Potnuri earned first-time varsity wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. The Dolphins improve to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in the Beach District.

Kellam 9, Kempsville 0

The Knights finished the regular season with the best record in the Beach District (10-2).

Southeastern District

Hickory 8, Nansemond River 1

All seven seniors contributed to the Hawks’ win. James Jenson won 6-2, 6-0 on court 1.

Western Branch 9, Oscar Smith 0

The Bruins swept the Tigers.

Savannah Threadgill won in a third set tiebreaker to clinch the win for the Lions. McKenna Townsley and India French were victorious in both doubles and singles.

Eastern District

Ocean Lakes 9, Bayside 0

Urvi Jain, Sophia Tanenggee, Kasia Skurzak, Shreya Behl, Samara Desy and Caroline Jackson all earned singles wins for the Dolphins.

Kellam 7, Kempsville 2

Morgan Pennington clinched the match for the Knights in No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 win. On court 4, Lane Austin improved to 10-0 for the season with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
