Evan Brobst and Christian Velez each had two hits and Maddax Brown pitched 6.2 innings to earn the win.

Ben Griffin was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and scored twice.

Cali Magero had two RBI doubles and Taylor Ryan had an RBI triple to lead the Hawks. Emily Miller (5-1) struck out nine in six innings for her fifth win of the season, while Nandua’s Reghan Hintz struck out 10 in the loss.

Linda Hodge and Katelyn Balka combined for a no-hitter and Hodge added two hits and two RBIs offensively.

Syd Seals (9-1-1) had 12 strikeouts and the Hornets used back-to-back singles by Rayna Klar and Izzy Shollenbarger in the third inning to extend their lead and never look back.

Rebecca Rapier blasted a grand slam and Kyleigh Linden and Riley Curtice each had two hits.

VISAA Girls Championship

Greenbrier Christian’s Macie Rasmussen, a freshman, carded a 3-under-par 69 at Tuscarora Country Club in Danville to win her second consecutive state title by six shots.

Holly Pierce tallied six goals and Oliva Odom and Maria Eckhart added five each, Leni Jolly three and Maya Milan one. Odom, Pierce and Leni Jolly had three assists each, while Maggie Guild had eight groundballs.
